Welcome to my website and to Sicamous, BC!
Sicamous - Nestled between the pristine Shuswap and Mara Lakes, the community of Sicamous is the largest urban centre in the Eagle Valley. It is approximately a 15 to 20 minute drive to Salmon Arm and a one hour drive to Vernon.
The population of the District of Sicamous is 3,166 with a surrounding area population of 4800. Being situated on the shores of the Shuswap and Mara Lakes makes this a boaters paradise, in fact Sicamous is the "Houseboat Capital of Canada".
The mild four distinct season climate and 350 metre elevation is attractive to all residents. Sicamous offers a variety of recreational amenities including 2 golf courses, parks, a recreation centre, a seniors activity centre and more. Fishing, hiking, snowmobiling, water sports, bird watching and exceptional scenery add to the wonderful outdoor experience in the Sicamous area. The town is in close proximity to mountainous terrain. Their snowmobile areas feature great trails and fabulous alpine terrain.
The amenities found in the Sicamous area include over 100 businesses. There are more than two dozen motels and resorts, several RV parks and campgrounds and at least a dozen restaurants.
There is also the Distict of Sicamous municipal office, a post office, one main liquor store, a Royal Canadian Legion branch, a marine pub with beer, wine and liquor store, a neighbourhood pub, also with a beer, wine and liquor store, a banking facility with cash machines, 6 churches, an RCMP detachment, 3 fire departments(Malakwa, Sicamous and Swansea Point), doctors, dentists, optometrists, massage therapist, chiropractor, ambulance service, rescue truck and crew, and seniors housing and recreation complex.
Educational facilities include: one high school( Gr. 8 to 12), one elementary school (K to 7), Open Learning Agency (Community Career Centre), Storefront School, Watercraft Training Centre and a library. Transportation services include bus and taxi service and two water taxi services on the lakes.
There is a public museum in Finlayson park, two public wharves on the Sicamous Channel, and public beach and park close to the downtown core. There are go-carts, a zoo, golfing, minigolf, tennis courts, and a number of public parks.
Finlayson Park- with its recreation centre, curling rink, museum, ball diamonds, picnic areas, and children' s playground- provides a focal point for the communities many activities and events.
Sicamous also has a very active arts group hosting many annual events. Residents take pride in their community and this is evident as one drives through the attractive residential areas. Real Estate is plentiful and reasonable, offering a variety of housing including new accomodations and retired living accomodations. Industry in Sicamous include dairy farming, logging, tourism, houseboating and tourist services. Sicamous is home to the largest houseboat manufacturing company in western North America with markets around the world.
